Same old story, new president:

U.S. President Barack Obama will not cut the billions of dollars in military aid promised to Israel, a senior U.S. administration official said Wednesday. The $30 billion in aid promised to Israel over the next decade will not be harmed by the world financial crisis, the official told Israel Radio. He spoke on condition of anonymity.

The U.S. military aid to Israel was increased in a decade-long deal agreed to by Bush in 2007. OTOH, U.S. will pay close to $1 billion for rebuilding the wreckage in Gaza mostly caused by armaments paid for by the U.S.! To add insult to injury, there is a condition on that money:

Clinton: Some $900 million pledged by the United States to the Palestinians will be withdrawn if the expected Palestinian Authority coalition government between Fatah and Hamas does not recognize Israel’s right to exist, Western and Israeli diplomats said Wednesday.

I suggest that Clinton’s ‘requirement’ that A Hamas/Fatah coalition (or whoever clearly enjoys the allegiance of the majority of Palestinians) ought to pose no serious problem. It could even be turned very much to their advantage and make life VERY difficult for the US and Israel by exposing Zionism for the racist/apartheid ideology that it so clearly is. Since a two-State ‘solution’ has become a virtual impossibility given Israeli actions in the West Bank, the PA should say OK we will formally and explicitly recognise Israel’s right to exist, but only if it’s constitution is changed to render it a true democracy with religion or ethnicity qualifications for citizenship removed from its constitution and the indigenous Palestinians given full and equal citizenship rights. That message should be trumpeted very loudly and clearly over and over again in every possible international forum. It is a VERY reasonable position which, if promoted skillfully has the potential to seriously wrong-foot Zionist apologists.

FWIW you may like to take a look at this: CIA report: Israel will fall in 20 years.

The thinking is as I indicated in the above comment.

@Sabretache – Yea…that’s a good idea. Let people vote who have sworn to drive Israel into the sea. As long as Palestinians are led by militant Islam and its world domination ideology, Israel is obliged to keep a firm, even brutal hand on its Muslim inhabitants. The rest of the world would do well to do the same. Any faith that has been at the heart of the currently world crisis needs to be controlled and even subdued. How about this…..Israel give every last human being in it’s borders the right to vote on the same day Islam declares that it will stop trying to take over the world.

    david,

who cares about voting when arab citizens of israel are not allowed the same rights simply for not being born a jew? your faith called zionism is dragging the jewish inhabitants of israel not being able to face reality. that zionism armed to the teeth with the latest technology and 30bil+USD aid per year and genocide and ethnic cleansing of arabs who identify themselves as palestinians living in occupied palestine and under inhuman conditions in the west bank and gaza will overcome israel. with or without money and technology.

try neturei karta if you don’t like me talking about my faith.

  6. Doug Meredith says:

I’ll tell you what, you find a way to stop arms from pouring into Gaza (thus into the hands of Hamas who has sworn death to Israel) and I’ll be the first one to call my Congressman and Senator screaming to stop aid to Israel immediately. Until then, every single nation on earth has the right to defend itself. We can all scream atrocities but again, it happens from both sides.

Israel’s cost to the US taxpayers in real sense is over US$3 trillion:
